Recipe: Strawberry tart with pie crust
Ingredients:
- 335g flour
- 30g sugar
- 165g butter
- 105–110 g ice water
- pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup strawberry jam
- 750g fresh strawberries
Step-by-step instructions:
- Place flour, sugar and salt in a food processor and pulse a few times to combine.
- Add the cold, cubed butter and stir the mixture until coarse crumbs and a few pea-sized pieces form, then stop stirring.
- Add water and stir until moist clumps or balls form.
- Place the dough on a clean work surface and form it into a ball (do not knead the dough). Divide the dough in half. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 210 degrees Celsius.
- Roll out the chilled cake dough. Carefully place the dough on the cake plate. Spread strawberry jam on the shell. Top with sliced strawberries.
- Roll out the remaining dough. Use the mold to cut the dough. Carefully place the cut dough on top.
- Brush the cake lightly with milk. Sprinkle jaggery on top. Bake the cake at 210 degrees Celsius for 35-45 minutes or until golden brown.
